A WOMAN was headbutted by a thug who stole her handbag on a city street.
The 20-year-old woman was walking along North St Andrew Street in Edinburgh, near to the National Portrait Gallery at around 3.30am today.
She was approached by two men who tried to talk to her.
One of the men then took hold of her arm, punched her to the face and then headbutted her before grabbing her handbag and stealing money from it.
The victim ran off and the two men were lost to sight.
The assailant is described as male, white, in his late 20’s, 5’5 tall, of slim build with short black gelled spiky hair and wearing a light grey/green jacket and jeans.
The other male, who did not take part in the assault, spoke to the culprit in what is believed to be an Eastern European language.
