Two injured in city assault

A MAN has suffered a serous head injury after an assault in central Edinburgh.

The victim and another man were attacked on South Charlotte Street at about 3.30am by two other males.

Both were punched to the face and knocked to the ground, one suffering a serious head injury as a result.

The culprits are described as white males in their early 20s, one wearing a white v-neck t-shirt possibly ripped at the ‘v’.

The other was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt and having either short cropped hair or balding.

A number of passers-by stopped to assist the victims and the culprits were pointed out to a passing taxi driver.

Police officers investigating the matter are keen to speak to these people or anyone else who may have witnessed the attack.
