Airline extends Glasgow-Jersey flights through winter months

EASYJET has extended its Glasgow to Jersey route throughout the Winter season.

The 90 min direct service from Glasgow to the Channel Island has proven to be a popular route with leisure travellers, since its launch in June last year.

The summer service began operating three times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – from March 3 and is scheduled to run till October 29 this year.

However, increased demand has led easyJet to introduce a winter service from October 30.

The twice-weekly service will fly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with fares starting from £24.99 (one way including taxes).

Hugh Aitken, easyJet commercial manager for Scotland, said the extension into the winter season will offer an additional 10,000 seats between Glasgow and Jersey.

He said: “Jersey has proven to be a popular route for us from Glasgow, offering holiday-makers the option of an action-packed weekend break or a leisurely beach holiday.”

The Glasgow to Jersey announcement comes as easyJet has launched its winter schedule for Glasgow and Edinburgh airports.

Some 7300 winter flights are now on sale, enabling passengers to secure the best fares early with almost 1.2million seats available for travel from October 28, 2012, through to February 2013.

Capacity has been added to popular sun and city-break destinations including Glasgow to Malaga, Glasgow to Amsterdam and Edinburgh to Athens. Ski enthusiasts can also expect the best value and choice on flights to Geneva and Grenoble.

Aitken added: “The launch of our winter schedule offers both leisure and business passengers the best choice of low-fare destinations.”
