A DRIVER was stopped on a Fife road after allegedly travelling at almost 150mph.
The sports car was stopped on the A92, near Kirkcaldy, at 11pm on Wednesday night.
Police had recorded a speed of 149mph, more than twice the national speed limit.

The 46-year-old driver, who was in an E-class Mercedes-Benz, which costs from £29,000, will now be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Chief Inspector David McCulloch, Head of Road Policing for Fife Constabulary, said: “Traffic officers were carrying out speed checks on the A92 last night when they recorded a car being driven at one of the fastest speeds I have ever come across.
“The driver was stopped in Kirkcaldy and due to the very high speed, will be reported for dangerous driving. The consequences of a tyre blow-out or other mechanical failure at this speed would have been catastrophic for the driver and also posed a serious threat to other road users and members of the public.”
The A92, which runs from Dunfermline to Stonehaven, has been the scene of several fatal crashes over the years.
In August 2010 Dundee teacher Lorna Grant was killed when her Renault Clio collided with a Volvo.
And in November the same year a 20-year-old woman was killed when the Seat Ibiza she was travelling in overturned.
In the last three years, five people have been killed and 39 people seriously injured on the road.
