Cyclist injured following collision

A CYCLIST is in a serious condition in hospital after colliding with a car.

The 50-year-old woman was cycling on Glasgow Road in Dumfries at around 11.45am today when the accident occurred.

Near the roundabout at the entrance of King George Park she collided with a navy Peugeot 407 being driven by a local 30-year-old male.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward

She sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary to receive treatment. Her condition is currently described as serious.

As the collision occurred at a busy stretch of road during a peak time of the day police are keen to speak to anyone who seen the incident or who was in the area around the time.
