Appeal to identify owners of stolen jewellery

POLICE are appealing for help to reunite suspected stolen jewellery with its rightful owners.

A 51-year-old woman has been charged in connection with 13 alleged thefts in the south west of Edinburgh in between 2005 – 2011.

Police say people may think they have misplaced the jewellery

The woman has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal, and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

As a result of the investigation, a number of items of jewellery have been recovered, and have not yet been returned to their owners.

A description of the missing pieces will be required by officers

Sergeant Robert Mackenzie said: “We appreciate some items might not have been reported as stolen to the police, with people instead thinking they’ve been lost or misplaced, but we would encourage anyone who recognises any of the items in the picture to contact us – it might just reunite them with something sentimental.

“All we require in the first instance is a description of the item of jewellery and we will progress from there.”

Anyone with any information relating to these items should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131 between 0900-1700 Monday – Friday and ask to be put through to Balerno Police station.
