Teen “critical” after St Patrick’s night assault

A 17-year-old boy was assaulted on St Patrick’s night and is in a serious condition in hospital.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses in Fife after the boy was assaulted in Kelso Place, Kirkcaldy, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The boy was taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and later transferred to the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information on the attack 

The 17- year-old is thought to be in a critical condition.

Detective Inspector Charles Duncan from Communities Policing Division CID said:-

“We are carrying out extensive inquiries around a house inKelso Place, Kirkcaldy to identify how and why this youth was assaulted.

“We are aware of an incident that took place during the early hours of Sunday morning and noting statements from those who were present.”

A 20-year-old man is currently detained at Kirkcaldy Police Station in relation to the incident.

Detective Inspector added: “I would appeal to anyone who was in theKelso Placearea of Kirkcaldy from midnight to 0230 hours on Sunday morning to contact me.

“ I would also ask anyone who has any information, which can help with this enquiry, to get in touch”.
