POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was found injured in the street.
Officers in Haddington, East Lothian were called to Brown Street at around 11.10pm yesterday (Sunday) where the 33-year-old was discovered lying unconscious by members of the public, who contacted the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The man was taken to the Western General Hospital where he is being treated for a head injury and remains in a serious condition.
Police believe he may have visited a number of the local takeaways and licensed premises prior to being found and anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to come forward.
The man is described as white, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins tall with a medium to stocky build and short brown hair. He was wearing a short dark zipper jacket and jeans.
A police spokesman said: “At this time we are still trying to establish how the man sustained his injuries and are keen to speak to anyone who believes they saw him before 11.10pm last night.
“Anyone who can help officers retrace his steps is asked to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, we would urge anyone with any other information that can help with our enquiries to get in touch.”
