Man stroked thigh of teenage girl on bus

The girl was targeted in the Lothian Bus service number 3

A MAN who started stroking a teenage girl’s thigh during a bus ride is being hunted by police,

The man, believed to be in his 50s, targeted the 17-year-old at around 1.45pm on Sunday.

The girl and a friend had got onto the Number 3 Lothian Bus at Gorebridge, Midlothian.

After her friend had left the bus the man got on at Newtongrange and sat next to the victim.

He began to stroke the victim’s thigh before she got off the bus and called police.

Officers are now keen to hear from other passengers who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The suspect is described as white, in his 50s, tall and fat with a stubbly or dirty complexion. He was wearing a dark beanie hat, dark jacket and dark trousers, which appeared too short for him.

A police spokesman said: “The victim’s friend had got off the bus prior to this incident and so the experience was all the more upsetting for her as she was on her own.

“Anyone who remembers seeing this man and can help identify him is asked to contact police immediately.”
