Misspelt Rangers shirt to be auctioned for charity

The misspelt shirt was worn by Nikica Jelavic in a game against Hearts last year

A ONE-OFF football shirt has been put up for auction to benefit vulnerable children in Glasgow and the west of Scotland.

The misspelt ‘Jelvic’ Rangers top was worn by former Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic in a two nil victory over Hibernian at Easter Road on the December, 10 2011.

It will be auctioned during Clyde 1’s Super Scoreboard programme as part of the charity’s ten day ‘Help a Thousand Kids’ fundraising campaign.

Sharon Taylor, charity manager at Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 Cash for Kids said: “It’s a fantastic item for any Rangers fan, or indeed any football memorabilia collector to own.  Whoever buys it will know that however much they pay for it, 100% of their money will go directly to supporting thousands of vulnerable children across Glasgow and the west of Scotland.

“We’d like to thank Rangers for donating it and for being great supporters of the work that Cash for Kids does.”

The ten day ‘Help a Thousand Kids’ fundraising campaign was launched on the 20th of February and will culminate on Leap Day, February, 29 2012.

Sharon added: “The 29th of February only comes around once every four years and we want everyone to take advantage of the one extra day to do something extra to help vulnerable children.  Sadly one on four children live in poverty in Scotland and our ‘1 in 4’ campaign aims to raise awareness of that very sad fact.”

The misspelt ‘Jelvic’ Rangers top is part of a package that also includes a signed Rangers away top and an aerial photograph of Ibrox signed by Rangers’ legends including Andy Goram, Mark Hateley and Derek Parlane.

The ‘Jelvic’ top will be one of a number of lots available during the auction, which is sponsored by Central Car Auctions, including a Scott Brown signed Celtic top and a pair of signed Ricky Burns boxing gloves and a ‘Rickster’ cornerman jacket.

Also up for auction is the chance for two people to meet Ashton, Marvin, Oritse and JB from JLS before their gig at the Braehead Arena on April, 24 2012 and to then see them perform as well as tickets for Olly Murs, The Wanted and a private gig by Noel Gallagher.
