Woman recovering from hip surgery has handbag snatched in Lochend Crescent

The incident took place at around 9:20pm on Wednesday, February 15 in Lochend Crescent.

A 53-year old woman who is recovering from hip surgery had her handbag snatched following a struggle in Lochend Crescent.

The woman was subjected to the ordeal at around 9.20pm on Wednesday, February 15.

The 53-year-old, who has difficulty walking due to recent hip surgery, was returning home when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her bag.

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 4ins tall with a slim build, dark eyes and a small nose. He was wearing a dark beanie hat, dark scarf with light stripes covering his face, dark bomber jacket and white trainers.

A police spokesman said: “The victim has been left incredibly shaken by this ordeal and we are keen to speak to anyone who can help us trace the man responsible.

“Anyone who was in or around Lochend Crescent and remembers seeing anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect and can assist officers in tracing him is also asked to get in touch.”
