Large blaze at recycling centre on Perth outskirts

A FIRE that has already engulfed around 100 tonnes of waste is being tackled by firefighters outside of Perth.

The blaze began at approximately 07:40am this morning, when Tayside Fire and Rescue were alerted to the incident.

There is currently ten fire engires, an aerial ladder platform and a command support unit at the scene of the fire at Wyllie Recycling Ltd in the Inveralmond Industrial Estate.

A number of these fire engines are currently deployed to assist with relaying water to the scene of operations.

Firefighting operations are currently being hampered by reduced water pressure in the area; Scottish Water are enroute to assist in boosting water supplies. The Scottish Environmental Protecion Agency have also been requested to attend in order to assist with assessing any potential environmental impact.

There are no reported injuries to members of the public or employees.
