A MAN has died after being hit by a sports car in Edinburgh.

The 54-year-old pedestrian suffered serious head injuries after being hit by the £20,000 Toyota MR2 at 6.30pm on Tuesday.

The man was taken to the Western General Hospital following the collision with the blue vehicle on Corstorphine High Street but died after his condition deteriorated overnight.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “At the time of the incident the area would have been busy with pedestrians, and we want anyone who witnessed the collision, which happened close to the Corstorphine Inn, to contact police immediately.”
