Police hunt pair in connection with assault

The first man was wearing a trapper hat

CCTV images of two men sought in connection with a serious assault have been released by police.

A 25-year-old man suffered a broken jaw in the assault, which happened around 3.45am, outside the 24-hour Scotmid store in Nicolson Street on December 17.

He was attacked after he went to the assistance of the shop’s security guard, who was remonstrating with two men.

The men the police would like to speak to are described as white, and in their early 20s.  The first is described as being of stocky build, 5ft 8ins tall, wearing a dark top and jeans, Timberland style boots and a checked trapper hat.

The second man has a slim build, 5ft 10ins tall, with short dark hair, and wearing a grey top and jeans.
