Flasher hunted by police

The girl ran home following the incident

POLICE are hunting a man who exposed himself to a 15-year-old girl yesterday evening.

The girl was making her way home from the Lasswade High School Sports Centre at around 6.55pm.

She had just entered McLean Place when a man ran past, overtaking her.

He then exposed himself to the victim, who fled to her home and contacted police.

Detectives believe this is linked to previous public indecencies in Mayfield and Gorebridge and are eager to here from anyone who can help trace the man responsible.

The suspect is described as 30-40-years-old, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall with a medium build and short cropped or shaved brown hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured tracksuit.

A police spokesman said: “We believe this male has previously been responsible for other indecent exposures in Midlothian recently and are carrying out a robust investigation to identify him.

“Anyone who can assist with our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.

“Similarly, we would also urge anyone who was in or around McLean Place yesterday evening and who believes they saw anything suspicious to come forward.”

Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
