A LEADING Scottish independent brewery is set to double its workforce with the creation of 13 new jobs.
The move is Innis & Gunn’s largest ever recruitment drive and part of a as part of a new £1m investment programme.
Spurred by a huge jump in turnover this year, the award-winning speciality beer company will locate all but one of its new recruits at its Edinburgh headquarters.
Commenting on the announcement, Dougal Sharp, Managing Director of Innis & Gunn, said: “The focus last year was on creating the right systems infrastructure to cope with the increased demand for our products.
“Now that they are in place and we are seeing the fruits of our labours, the time has come to recruit the right people to continue driving forward the growth at the incredible rates we have experienced to date.”
The recruitment drive forms one strand of the new seven-figure project, which will also encompass the redevelopment of the ground floor and basement area of the company’s city centre premises into a visitor centre for event use.
Scottish Enterprise has pledged £175,000 under its Regional Selective Assistance scheme over a two-year period towards total expenditure.
Innis & Gunn has appointed Edinburgh-based Search consultancy to fill the new posts and is aiming to make all appointments within six months from the vacancies opening in January 2012.
Twelve of the positions, which range from sales and marketing to CRM roles, will be based out of Innis & Gunn’s Edinburgh head office, with the remaining position centred across the Atlantic to Canada for a Field Sales Executive to support the resident Brand Ambassador.
“We chose Search for a number of reasons: they’re an independent Scottish business, like us, with a team of likeminded people who share a genuine belief in what they’re doing. They also best understood the assessment criteria and showed real enthusiasm towards our brand and the opportunity to help us move into the next phase of our development,” added Mr Sharp.
Innis & Gunn has three core products in its range: Original, Blonde and Rum Cask, as well as many Limited Edition beers.
It is available in seven countries globally (UK, US, Canada, Sweden, Ireland, Finland and Norway).
Commenting on the recruitment drive, Gareth Biggerstaff, Director of Search Consultancy in Scotland, said: “This recruitment drive reflects the growth in business and turnover experienced by Innis & Gunn over the last year.
“It is fantastic to see an independent speciality brewer expanding so rapidly despite the tough economic climate.
“We’re delighted to be handling this recruitment brief and believe that our experience and capabilities will ensure that we source ambitious and skilled individuals who are capable of contributing to the future success of the company.”
