Woman robbed of handbag in Edinburgh attack

The woman was hit on the head and fell to the ground

A WOMAN was pushed to the ground and robbed of her handbag in Edinburgh.

The 50-year-old victim was attacked in Elgin Street at around 8.35pm on Friday night (November 18) when she was struck on the head and fell to the ground.

A man approached from behind and grabbed her bag before running off through Montgomery Park.

The suspect is described as being white, of medium build, 6ft tall, in his mid 20s – 30s.

He was wearing a black hooded top with a black scarf covering his face, and a dark-coloured tracksuit.

A police spokesperson said: “Fortunately the woman was not seriously injured in this incident, however, it has still been terrible experience for her.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who may recognise the description of the suspect, to contact us on 0131 311 3131.”
