Woman dies after plunging from hospital window

The woman died at 3.3am on Thursday

A PENSIONER has fallen to her death from a hospital window in Fife.

It is understood the 61-year-old fell 30ft from the upper storey window at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline at around 1am today (Thurs).

She is believed to have been a patient in a general surgical ward and was recovering from an operation.

Police said she was treated in the hospital’s accident and emergency department but died at 3.30am.

John Wilson, of NHS Fife, said: “An incident took place atQueenMargaretHospitalin the early hours of this morning.

“It is subject to a police inquiry and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

A Fife Constabulary spokesman said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances and a report on the death will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
