Man hospitalised after Borders fire

The man was rescued from the blazing first floor flat

A MAN has been injured after a fire broke out at his Borders home.

A fire broke out in the property in Langlees Drive, Galashiels shortly before 11pm in Monday.

The 68-year-old was rescued by firefighters from the first floor flat and taken to Borders General Hospital suffering from severe smoke inhalation and burns.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
