Man attacked at Edinburgh Sewage Works

The man was hit over the head and suffered cuts to his face

A MAN was left with facial injuries after being attacked at his work.

The 42-year-old was carrying out checks at Seafield Sewage Works in Edinburgh was assaulted just after midnight on Sunday.

While patrolling the building he disturbed two men, who hit him over the head before escaping.

The was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment for cuts to his face.

The main suspect is described as white, 5ft 10ins to 6ft 2ins tall, slim build and in his late 20s to early 30s. He had short light or fair hair, a gaunt appearance, and was wearing green camouflage jacket, blue faded jeans.

The other suspect is described as white, and between 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall.

A police spokesman said: “The victim suffered extensive facial injuries which required 18 stitches at hospital, and has been left extremely shaken as a result of his ordeal.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area of the Seafield Sewage Works in the early hours of Sunday morning, who saw two men acting suspiciously there, to contact police.

“Similarly, anyone who recognises their descriptions, or who has any other information that can assist our inquiries, should also get in touch.”
