TAYSIDE Police are giving the public the chance to name their newest recruit.

Five German Shepherd puppies – two boys and three girls – were born last week as part of a police breeding programme.

Force dog handler Constable Steve Ritchie is due to select one of the dogs to join their father Amstel on the dog team

Dog handler Constable Steve Ritchie will be testing the pups in a few weeks time to establish which one he thinks is best suited to work as a general purpose police dog.

Once the selection is made the public will be invited to name the new dog.
