CENTRAL SCOTLAND POLICE

OFFICERS are asking for help in tracing whoever was responsible for damaging the car of an elderly resident in Stenhousmuir.

The green VW Golf, which belongs to an 80-year-old man, was parked in a secure garage in the area’s Rae Street, but some time between 8:15pm on Wednesday October 19 and 6:00pm on Wednesday October 26 the car was sprayed with silver paint.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have information regarding the incident to contact Central Scotland Police on 01786 456000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.

 

THOUSANDS of pound of tools have been stolen from a farm in Maddiston.
Some time between 6pm on Wednesday October 26 and 8:45am on Thursday October 27, two quad bikes and various power tools were taken from a locked outbuilding on the farm property. Items stolen include:

It’s believed that a lorry or van would have been needed to remove the stolen goods.

DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY POLICE

A RED Toyota Yaris had a window smashed as it was parked on Albert Place, Annan sometime between 8.15pm on Wednesday 26 and 7.50am on Thursday 27 October.

 

A RED Peugeot 206 had a window smashed as it was parked onCarlingwark Street, Castle Douglas sometime between 8pm on Wednesday 26 and 6pm on Thursday 27 October.

 

A BLUE BMW 118 was scratched as it was parked onLochside Road,Dumfriessometime between 6pm on Wednesday 26 and 8am on Thursday 27 October

 

A SPEAKER was stolen from a property onClapperton Road, Annan sometime between 3.45pm and 4.45pm on Thursday 27 October. The speaker was later recovered.

 

A COAL bunker and an amount of coal were stolen from a property near the Garroch roundabout on the West side of the A75 bypass sometime between Friday 21 and Thursday 27 October.

 

AN iPhone was lost in The Hole in The Wall In on the High Street,Dumfriessome point during Thursday 27 October. Anyone finding the phone or know its whereabouts is asked to contact police.

FIFE POLICE

A TEENAGE boy has been cautioned and charged after a ten-day vandalism spree in the Templehall area of Kirkcaldy.

Six double-glazed windows at Templehall Library, costing £3,000 to replace, were smashed over a ten-day period earlier this month.

Thanks to the efforts of the Kirkcaldy Vandalism Team, the boy has now been charged and will be reported for the offences.

PC Rachael Burns, said: “We reported to the council’s local area committee last week that overall crime in Kirkcaldy has fallen by eight per cent so far this year, on top of a 17% drop for the whole of last year. Vandalism is one of the crimes which has fallen steeply in the town, so this case is quite rare.

“Fife Constabulary is committed to Taking Policing Closer to the Community, and our specialist Vandalism Team has been set up to tackle issues such as this.”

GRAMPIAN POLICE

A PEDESTRIAN has died after being hit by a car on one of Scotland’s busiest roads.

Police say the woman was struck by a Renault driven by a 25-year-old near Bridgend Tipperty on the Aberdeen to Ellon stretch of the A90 at around 6.15pm yesterday.

The woman suffered extensive injuries and police believe she is likely she has been struck by other vehicles potentially both north and south bound at the location.

Police are asking anyone who thinks they may have hit the woman, or who has damage to their car to contact them.

It is believed that the woman may live locally and may have been seen walking on the A90 between Ellon and Tipperty earlier in the afternoon, anyone who may have seen a woman wearing a purple jacket in the area is requested to contact Grampian Police.

Inspector Jim Wood of the Road Policing Department states; “The collision occurred at the height of the rush hour and the road was very busy at the time, anyone who may have witnessed the collision is requested to contact Grampian Police via the Force Service Centre on 0845 600 5 700.”

LOTHIAN AND BORDERS POLICE

AN ELDERLY woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Edinburgh.

 

A NATIONAL campaign urging is motorists and other road users to make sure that they are fully prepared for winter.

The “Get Ready for Winter Weekend”, which is being led by the Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland (ACPOS) will aim to educate motorists on what they should do to make sure their vehicles are roadworthy this winter. Other road users will also be provided with advice on keeping themselves safe in the months ahead.

The campaign, which gets underway today (Friday), will come to an end on Monday morning. Officers from the Road Policing Unit at Lothian and Borders Police will be out and about across the Force area this weekend, carrying out road checks and delivering the winter safety message to road users.

They will be supported by local officers, who will assist their Road Policing colleagues as they visit shopping centres and other public locations to provide motorists and road users with information and advice.

Superintendent Alan Duncan, Head of the Road Policing Unit at Lothian and Borders Police, said: “Last year’s extreme weather brought home the importance of making sure that road users are prepared for the winter months, regardless of whether you are a motorist, a cyclist, or a pedestrian.

“Whether it be ensuring that your tyres, lights and brakes are in good condition, or that you wear high-visibility clothing, all road users have a responsibility to make sure they are prepared for the months ahead.

NORTHERN CONSTABULARY

THREE cars have been damaged in a fire inInverness.

Police and fire crews were called toHolm Dell Placeat 1.55am to two vehicles on fire.

A third was damaged before the fire could be extinguished.

STRATHCLYDE POLICE

A MURDER inquiry has been launched following the death of a woman on Wednesday.

Lynne Small, 36, was found in her flat in Addison Grove, Thornliebank at 8.10pm.

Following a post mortem, police are treating the death as murder and a murder inquiry has been launched. Relatives are aware.

Detective Chief Inspector John McDonald who is leading this investigation said today: “Extensive police enquiries have been ongoing in the local area since officers were called to the address last night, and the inquiry team have been carrying out door to door enquiries and studying CCTV footage in an effort to gather more information on this murder.

“Detectives are currently trying to trace Lynne’s last movements and I would appeal to anyone who has seen Lynne or been in contact with her between the evening of Monday 24 October and when her body was discovered to come forward as a matter of urgency, as they may have information that is vital to this inquiry.”

 

POLICE are appealing for the help in an effort to trace a 52-year-old man reported missing from his home in Thornliebank.

Charles Walker, known as Chic, was last seen around 7pm on Monday 24 October 2011 inMain Street, Thornliebank, near to its junction withKennishead Road.

Charles is described as 6ft 1inch tall, has a stocky build and short grey hair.  When last seen, he was wearing a blue zipped top.

TAYSIDE POLICE

THIEVES stole a 32-inch TV from a Dundee house.

The house, which is a short walk from Strathmartine Road on the south side of Kingsway, was broken into sometime between 11.15am and 8.45pm on Thursday (Oct 27).

The stolen TV is a wall-mounted Phillips model and, unusually, has in-built coloured lighted around its facing.

 

AN address in Dundee’s Sutherland Streetwas also broken into sometime between 9.15pm on Wednesday (Oct 26) and 7.45am on Thursday (Oct 27).

Stolen was a red leather handbag, as well as a flip-screen Nokia mobile phone, a hundreds of pounds in cash, a walking stick and a blue umbrella.

 

OFFICERS are also appealing for witnesses after copper pipes and taps were stolen from allotments at Clepington Gardens in Arklay Street.

Sometime between 7pm on Wednesday (Oct 26) and 9.30am on Thursday (Oct 27), the nine copper stand pipes have been cut through and stolen along with their taps. No flood damage was caused as the water supply was turned off at the time.
