TAYSIDE Police hope that a Cycle Passport Scheme will crack down on bike crime.

Anyone who brings their bike to the event this weekend can have it photographed and issued with a ‘cycle passport’ for £3.00.

The passport bears a photo of the bike, its description and serial number and helps owners to describe their bike to police if it is lost or stolen.  All details are also held on a national database, making it easier to reunite found bikes with their owners.

The event will be held between 10am and 3pm on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October at Olympia car park, Earl Grey Place, Dundee (next to Discovery Quay).
