The properties were targeted between 11.00pm on Thursday October 20 and 6.30am on Friday October 21.
While nothing was taken from three of the properties, hundreds of pounds worth of tools, including a Karcher Powerwasher and a McCulloch chainsaw, were stolen from garages in Princes Street and Ronaldshay Crescent.
Officers are asking people to be aware of anyone who may be selling second hand or used tools and to report it if they suspect any of the goods may be stolen.
They are also reminding people to keep their garages locked.
DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY POLICE
TWO pieces of bodywork were removed from a white Vauxhall Astra that was parked on Mill road sometime between 8pm on Sunday 23 and 8am on Monday 24 October.
FIFE POLICE
A WOMAN who died in a car crash in Fife has been named by police.
POLICE IN Fife are appealing for witnesses to stone throwing incidents involving buses and cars which have taken place over the last week.
A 14-year-old boy has been reported to the Children’s Panel for throwing stones and smashing the windscreen of a moving bus in the village of Crosshill but there have also been two other cases of similar reckless behaviour.
Last Thursday (October 20th), another stone throwing incident saw a bus struck whilst it was travelling on Keltyhill Road, Kelty around 9.30pm, resulting in a smashed windscreen. Fortunately no-one was injured.
Around 7pm last Saturday evening (22nd October), the driver of a car travelling eastward on the A92 dual carriageway, towards Cowdenbeath saw two youths on the Crossgates flyover throwing stones, one of which struck the windscreen of his vehicle causing damage. The driver managed to steer the vehicle to safety and was luckily uninjured.
Although there is no further description available of the youths, Fife Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward and name those responsible.
Community Police Officer Russell McDonald, said: “This is not a common crime and there is nothing to suggest that they are linked. That aside, may I remind everyone that this type of crime may result in serious consequences for road users. Anything hitting a vehicle at speed can cause damage, potentially leading to restricted vision, causing a vehicle to swerve and collide with other vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles.

GRAMPIAN POLICE
THOUSANDS of pounds of damage has been caused to three businesses in Fraserburgh.
The properties, on High Street, College Bounds and Charlotte Street, had their wondows smashed over the weekend of 16 and 17 October.
Constable Ewan Mechie, who is the investigating officer, said: “Grampian Police are committed to the prevention of anti social behaviour and targeting vandalism is a force priority.”
LOTHIAN AND BORDERS POLICE
POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a handbag snatch on Thursday (Oct 20).
The incident happened in Argyle Place about 5pm when a 21-year-old woman was approached by a man who allegedly snatched her purse and ran off. The woman gave chase and a passing motorist used his car to block the man’s route meaning he allegedly threw the purse away before running off across the Meadows.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and who saw what happened, to contact them on 0131 311 3131.
A 40-year-old man has been charged in connection with this incident and was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday (October 24).
NORTHERN CONSTABULARY
TEE-TOTAL thieves broke into a Highland distillery – and didn’t touch a drop.
THREE people were taken to hospital following a crash on the Isle of Skye.
The two vehicle collision occurred around 3pm on Wednesday, October 24 on the A87 at Ashaig.
The casualties were taken to Broadford Hospital for treatment to minor injuries and the road was closed for a short period of time to allow the vehicles to be recovered.
The driver of one of the vehicles will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
STRATHCLYDE POLICE
POLICE are appealing for new witnesses to a chrach where a woman died after the car she was in crashed into a minibus.
The 35-year-old was a passenger in a Honda Jazz when it collided with the bus travelling in the opposite direction on the A85, near Connel village, Argyll, on September 2.
She was taken to the Lorn and Islands Hospital in Oban, where she died a short time later.
The drivers of the Honda Jazz and minibus, both men, aged 37 and 50 respectively, did not suffer any serious injuries.
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
TAYSIDE POLICE
A WOMAN was attacked and robbed by a gang on a common alleyway on Monday night.
The 37-year-old was set upon in a common close in Arklay Terrace in Dundee by two men and a woman at around 9.30pm yesterday.
The gang took her handbag and made off along Arklay Street.
Shortly before the robbery, the victim was walking in Arklay Terrace, accompanied by a 48 year old man, who was carrying shopping bags.
Her fmale attacker is described as being skinny, with dark shoulder-length hair and was wearing a waist length collared black jacket with stripes on the front and black or grey leggings.
One of the men is of thin build, 6ft 4″ in height and was wearing a black tracksuit top and dark jeans or combat trousers.
The second man is 5ft10″ in height, stocky build, wearing a black zipped jacket and dark bottoms.
