Pedestrian injured in road accident

A PEDESTRIAN has been seriously injured after being hit by a van in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 19-year-old man suffered two broken legs and a broken collarbone in the accident which happened shortly after 1am.

He was walking along the southbound carriageway of the A68 near Pathhead when he was hit by the Volkswagen Transporter.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police closed the road for around five hours while they carried out an investigation and are now keen to hear from anyone who can assist with their enquiries.

A police spokesman said: “Officers continue to investigate the circumstances, which led to this collision and anyone who was on the A68 at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to come forward immediately.

“Similarly, anyone with any other information that can help police with their investigation should also come forward.”
