A WOMAN has died following a car crash in Fife.
Grace Thom was killed when her silver Ford Focus careered off the road between St Andrews and Guardbridge, in an area known locally as the Kincaple Straight.
The vehicle ended up on its roof in the one-car accident, which happened at 4.15am today.
The 56-year-old, who was from St Andrews, was taken to Ninewells hospital in Dundee suffering from head injuries but later died.
She is survived by her two adult sons.
The police are now asking anyone who saw the crash to come forward.
Senior Investigating Officer, Inspector Mark Anderson, said: “This crash involved only one vehicle, an eastbound silver coloured Ford Focus.
“The driver and sole occupant, a 56yr old woman from St Andrews, was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital for treatment after being rescued from her overturned car. Unfortunately, her injuries proved so extensive that she passed away around 8am this morning.
“Enquiries are continuing in the area and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this accident or saw the Ford Focus being driven in the area prior to the crash to call Fife Constabulary on 0845 600 5702.”
