Woman dies in Arbroath incident

Police were called to Culloden Road. Despite treatment the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A WOMAN who died after being found with serious injuries in Arbroath has been named as Joanne Rennie.

Police went to a flat in the town’s Culloden Road at around 1.45am today (tues) following reports of a disturbance.

Inside they found a year-old woman with serious injuries. She was treated by ambulance crews but was declared dead at the scene.

The woman has not been formally identified at this time and her details will not be released until next of kin have been informed.

A 30-year-old man has been detained in connection with the incident and is assisting with police enquiries.

Tayside Police officers are carrying out door to door enquiries in the Culloden Road area and the address has been cordoned off while Crime Scene Officers undertake meticulous examinations.

Officers would appeal to anyone who was in the area at or before the time of the incident who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer.
