A SCOT is to travel to the other side of the world – to teach the Chinese to make pizza.
Domenico Crolla, of Bella Napoli in Glasgow’s Shawlands, has been invited to the 3rd annual ‘Italian Cuisine and Wine summit’, and will make the delicacy despite a host of Michelin-starred chefs also attending from their native Italy.
Domenico will be the only Briton at the Hong Kong-based festival.
He will even use gold leaf on his culinary creation.
“‘The luxury pizza’ is my brief,” he said.
“I will be taking advantage of some of Italy’s finest ingredients to create and demonstrate eight pizzas to show what can be achieved with fine dining pizzas.
“Gold leaf became my trademark ingredient with ‘Pizza Royale 007’, but this time I will also be using for the first time ever on pizzas, edible diamonds and emeralds to woo the crowd.”
Domenico became something of a celebrity in China after his previous creation , the James Bond-themed Pizza Royale 007 hit the headlines.

The story became a translating task as part of the Chinese English National exam in 2007.
To coincide with the release of Casino Royale in 2006, Domenico designed and created Pizza Royale 007, a James Bond-themed pizza complete with lobster, gold leaf and caviar toppings.
It became the World’s most expensive pizza when auctioned on eBay and fetched £2,150 for charity.
He has also created a Heroes Pizza in honour of terrorist attack hero John Smeaton which raised £4,400 for charity.
Described as “the most prestigious promotion of quality Italian oenogastronomy in the world”, the Italian Cuisine and Wines World Summit, takes place in Hong Kong from November 2 to 6, 2011.
