THE final instalment of the adventures of boy wizard Harry Potter has become Amazon’s fastest selling DVD, despite not being released until December.

Record numbers pre-ordered Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 after it was made available on the online shopping site.

While the store would not reveal the exact numbers bought, it said the figure was almost four times that of the previous film in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

HUGE

John Boumphrey, director of DVD and Music at Amazon.co.uk, said: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is shaping up to be a huge title and with more than two months to go until release it is set to challenge Mamma Mia! as the most pre-ordered DVD & Blu-ray of all-time.”

The final film in the eight-part series is one of only ten films to have made $1 billion (£609 million) at the worldwide box office.

The series, which is based on the best-selling novels by Edinburgh author JK Rowling, follows Harry Potter from his discovery that he is able to perform magic to his epic final battle with the evil Lord Voldemort.
