Cyclist dies on Highland road

Two cyclists collided with a car on the A99 road

A CYCLIST has died after colliding with a car in Caithness.

The woman was travelling on the A99 near Ackergill when the accident happened.

A male cyclist was taken to Caithness General Hospital with serious injuries.

The female driver of the car has also been taken to hospital as a precaution, but is not believed to be seriously injured.

Officers from the force’s Roads Policing Unit are now in attendance and will be carrying out a full road collision investigation into the circumstances. The road is expected to be closed for some time.
