A WHEELIE bin was set alight in Blacklocks Vennel at around 3.20am on Sunday, September 11.
Police are keen to trace two males seen in the area around the time of the incident. They were described as being aged between 16 to 18 years old.
A MAN was robbed while walking along College Street in Dumfries last night (tues).
The 24-year-old victim required hospital treatment after being assaulted in the theft.
THIEVES attepted to break into a blue Ford Fiesta in Stranraer.
The vehicle was targeted on Galloway Street sometime between 5pm on Monday 19 and 2.30pm on Tuesday
SCRAP metal was stolen from a farm near Moniaive sometime between Saturday, September 17 and Tuesday, September 20.
A WINDOW was broken at a property on Cove Place, Gretna at around 8.20hrs on Tuesday, September 20.
FIFE POLICE
TWO elderly homeowners have been robbed by men posing as utility workers.
The pensioners, who both live in Cowdenbeath, were targeted yesterday afternoon (tues).
In the first case a man tricked his way into the home of a 79-year-old man between 2pm and 3pm by claiming to be from the Water Board, and while he distracted the householder an accomplice went inside and stole a large quantity of money.
A short time later, an 83-year-old woman was the victim of a similar style of distraction theft. This time the man responsible tricked his way into her home by claiming to be from the Council and needing to assess her property for work to be carried out. Again, while she was distracted, another man went inside her home and also stole a large quantity of money.
Police say it appears that three men were involved in these thefts and are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, no matter how insignificant it may appear to contact them.

A YOUNG dog was killed by a hit and run driver in Edinburgh.
A TEENAGER was grabbed by a man who tried to drag her into bushes as she walked home on Monday evening.
THREE children have been arrested after a school was damaged in a fire.
The structure within the garden the Loanhead Community Learning Centre suffered significant fire damage following the incident on Friday, September 2.
A 10-year-old girl and two boys aged 9 and 13 will now be reported to the Children’s Reporter.
A CHINESE man was subjected to racist abuse in a city centre attack.
The 34-year-old was pushed to the ground by a man and a woman on Edinburgh’s Clerk Street.
The incident occurred sometime between 1am and 2am on Saturday, September 10.
Police are now looking to speak to a taxi driver who picked the victim up in Minto Street.
Anyone who can assist in identifying the pair responsible for the assault is also still asked to get in touch.
The man is described as white, 17-18-years-old, 5ft 9ins tall with a medium build and medium length blond hair. He was wearing a green top, grey tracksuit bottoms, white trainers and spoke with a Scottish accent.
The woman is described as white, 17-years-old, 5ft 6ins tall with a skinny build and medium length brown hair. She was wearing a pink top and light-coloured jeans.
A police spokesman said: “We are continuing with our enquiries into this racially-motivated assault and believe the taxi driver may have information that can assist with our investigation.
“The driver picked the victim up and took him home following the assault and we are eager to speak with him as soon as possible.
“Similarly, anyone who was in the area and witnessed this incident is also asked to contact police immediately.”
A PENSIONER has been attacked in broad daylight by two teenagers.
The 60-year-old man was targeted while he was walking on East Main Street, Uphall, about 4.30pm on Saturday, August 20.
The man was punched in the face by the two boys and suffered cuts which needed treatment in hospital.
One of the men is described as being white, between 16-18-years-old, of slim build, short fair hair and was wearing a yellow top.
The other was the same age and build with short dark hair and was dressed all in black.
A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and who may recognise the description of the suspects, to get in touch with police.
“We know the street would have been busy at the time, so we are asking for anyone who may have been around to contact us on 0131 311 3131.”
NORTHERN CONSTABULARY
A MAN found dead on a remote beach has been named by police.
Mark Ozanne Raban Williams, 53, from Reiskmore, Invergordon was found by a member of the public on Luskentyre Beach on the Isle of Harris yesterday morning (tues).
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
A CYCLIST has died after colliding with a car in Caithness.
TAYSIDE POLICE
TWO people have been arrested by a new police task force tackling football violence.
Following an incident between football fans at the Broxden Services, near the M90, where several people were assaulted, Tayside Police launched a joint investigation with the newly formed Football Co-ordination Unit for Scotland (FoCUS).
Two men, aged 32 and 22, have now been arrested and are presently detained in police custody.
Superintendent David Brand, of FoCUS, said: “This operation clearly demonstrates the close working partnership between the new national unit and Scottish forces to eradicate violence and disorder. It also sends a clear message to offenders that violence and disorder will not be tolerated.
“We will continue working in close liaison with our colleagues across Scotland’s forces to crack down on those in the community who are intent in engaging in this type of behaviour.”
Tayside Police Sergeant David Rankine added: “We fully support the work of the national FoCUS unit and were pleased to work with them on this occasion to ensure that these matters were put before the court.”
A PRISONER who absconded from Castle Huntly has been arrested in Edinburgh.
ORANGE paint has been sprayed across 13 cars in Alyth during a night time rampage.
The vehicles were damages between 10.45pm on Sunday night and 7am the next morning.
Orange-coloured words were also scrawled across the door of a local hotel.
A woman wearing a grey and brown smock-type top, blue jeans and brown boots was seen with three men. She wore her long brown hair in a ponytail. It’s also thought she had a Birmingham accent.
Of the men, one wore a blue top and jeans and had short blonde hair, another wore a dark grey jacket with a hood that had a blue lining, blue jeans and had short blonde hair, and the third had short brown hair and wore a black top with a hood that had a white lining and dark jeans.
POLICE are looking for three youths in connection with a motorcycle theft in Dundee.
The red Jinlun 125cc motorcycle was stolen from a communal car park to the rear of Hebrides Drive.
The bike, which was later recovered in Ambleside Terrace, was taken some time between 6pm on Monday and 2.45am yesterday (tues).
Three youths were seen acting suspiciously in Ambleside Terrace shortly before the motorbike was found.
Two of the boys are aged about 16 and thin in build. One is about five feet seven inches tall and wore a red hooded top and joggers, the other is about five feet five inches tall and wore a sky blue Adidas hooded top and dark bottoms.
The third is aged about 18, is six feet tall, stocky and wore dark clothing.
A MOTORCROSS bike was stolen from a business in Forfar.
The black Suzuki TS50 was taken from West High Street some time between 10.20am and 1.20pm on Monday.
It has a white faring and when stolen bore the registration M298 JAT.
A BOILER was stolen from an empty flat in Perth’s Victoria Street, some time between 4pm on Monday and 11am on Tuesday .
THIEVES have drained the tank of an articulated lorry parked in Invergowrie.
They targeted the DAF vehicle some time between 8.30pm on Monday and 7.30 on Tuesday.
Four hundred litres of diesel, worth about £500 was taken.
TWO men robbed a city jewellers after posing as customers.
The men asked staff at H Samuel in Perth to show them various items of jewellery at around 2pm yesterday (tues)
They then left on the pretence of going to a nearby bank for cash.
They didn’t return and staff soon realised they had been distracted by the pair and a gent’s extra heavy platinum court ring, worth £950, had been taken.
One of the men is described as being in his early 40s, of Asian appearance, five feet seven inches tall and slim. He wore a dark jacket, a navy blue t-shirt with red buttons at the neck and pointed shoes.
The other is in his mid-30s or early-40s, of Asian appearance, five feet nine and of heavy build. He wore a leather jacket, a black stripy top, jeans and shiny black pointed shoes.
