Desperate times for thieves

Thieves broke into a council yard and stole a portable toilet

DESPERATE thieves have stolen a portable toilet from a council yard in Stirling.

The robbers also made off with a 20ft long metal storage hut.

The items are thought to be worth a four-figure sum.

The locked site which is on the A81 Glasgow-Aberfoyle Road in Dumgoyne is used mainly during the winter months by Stirling Council Roads Department to allow them to carry out road maintenance.

Sometime between Monday, September 12 and Thursday, September 15, the secure gates had been broken and units taken which would have required a large vehicle with a mounted crane to lift and remove.

Constable Mark Harvey said; “Although in a quiet area, a large ‘Hiab’ style vehicle would have been required to lift these items and we feel certain that people would have seen them being removed.

“The site is adjacent to the local Post Office and near to the Beech Tree Inn which would both have had customers coming and going throughout the day. The A81 is also a relatively busy road, so we are asking to people to contact us if they have seen anything suspicious going on in or around the site.”
