Public quiz in search for missing woman

Susan's family describe her as a "creature of habit"

POLICE in Glasgow are set to quiz the public over the disappearance of a local woman.

Susan Marshall, 55, went missing from her home in the Cardonald area of the city two weeks ago.

She was last seen at her sister’s home in Bowfield Crescent, Penilee, Glasgow, around 10am in August 31.

Her family reported her missing after finding her home empty when they went to take her for her weekly shop the following Saturday.

Police have since discovered she was seen in the car park at Marks and Spencers at Braehead Shopping Centre at 11.15am on Wednesday, and also on King’s Inch Road at 11.29am.

Susan has not been seen or heard from since.

Police now plan to stop and interview pedestrians and motorists in Kings Inch Road,  just near to the spot Susan was last seen, in the hope of gaining vital information.

Exactly two weeks on from her disappearance, officers will be stopping and interviewing pedestrians and motorists in Kings Inch Road, Renfrew, just near to the spot Susan was last seen. Anyone stopped between 1100 hours and 1200 hours will be asked to complete a short questionnaire in the hope that officers can glean more information about her disappearance.

Community Inspector Stuart Mundell at Helen Street Police Office is appealing for members of the public to offer their support. Speaking this afternoon, he said: “We would ask everyone to cast their minds back to that Wednesday, August 31 – Were they near Braehead? Did they see a woman of Susan’s description near to Kings Inch Road, just near Xscape? She is white, 4ft 10 in height, of slim build, she has green eyes, rosy cheeks and dyed brown collar length hair. She also has a hearing implant and was wearing a royal blue jacket, blue denims and white trainers.

“Susan has never been missing before and we’re all becoming increasingly concerned for her safety and well-being. Her family are distraught and just want to know that she is safe and well. We would ask members of the public to lend their support and fully co-operate with officers during tomorrow’s operation.”

Inspector Mundell added: “As we’ve said previously, Susan’s family describe her as a ‘creature of habit’. She has learning difficulties and likes to stick to the same routine. Every weekday she walks from her home in Chirnside Place, Cardonald, along Berryknowes Road to Aboukir Street where she attends a club.

“She also walks from her home to her sister’s house in Bowfield Crescent along Hillington Road South and Bowfield Drive. Susan also uses the shops in Paisley Road West between Cardonald and Penilee, especially Morrisons. Does anyone remember seeing her at any of these places in the last few weeks? If so, please get in touch.”
