A MAN has suffered a broken jaw after confronting some drinkers in a common stairwell.
The 62-year-old was attacked at 7.30am on Sunday morning in a common stair in Ferry Road Drive.
The victim entered the building where he found three men and a woman drinking.
After questioning the group, one of the men punched the victim to the face causing him to fall to the ground before a second man began kicking him.
The two suspects then left the common stair along with the man and woman they were drinking with.
The man was taken to St John’s hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
POLICE LOOKING FOR WITNESSES
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The first suspect is described as white, 20-years-old, 5ft 10ins tall and well built with short fair hair. He was wearing a sweatshirt and Grey jogging bottoms.
The second suspect is described as white, around 20-years-old, approx 5ft 8ins tall with a slim build and dark brown or black hair.
A police spokesman said: “This was an unprovoked and vicious assault that resulted in a man suffering a painful and serious facial injury.
“Given the time of day, there may have been a number of people in the streets on their way to work and anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in the Ferry Road Drive area on Sunday morning is asked to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, if anyone can assist in identifying those responsible for this attack, they are also asked to get in touch.”
