A STUDENT has admitted having 3,000 child porn images on his laptop.
Richard Sangster’s depraved collection included a photograph of a dog involved in a sex act with an 11-year-old girl.
The 22-year-old admitted possessing and making indecent images between November 2008 and February 2011 at his home in Edinburgh.
The city’s sheriff court heard that police raided Sangster’s home after the received intelligence about his behaviour.
Officers obtained a warrant said fiscal depute Ann MacNeill.
When they raided his home they found 2,675 images on a computer hard drive. They found a further 180 images of children on a laptop, the fiscal said.
The fiscal said a video found was of a girl, between and 11 and 12 years old, involved in a sex act. “A dog was involved in the act as well,” the fiscal said.
Most of the other images found on the laptop were of girls of around 10 years old, the fiscal added.
Defence agent Mark Harrower said Sangster, who is from the Saughton area of Edinburgh, had made efforts to get back on track when his computer stopped working in 2009.
There was a period when Sangster created no images at all, said the defence agent. “My submission is that he was getting himself back on track, was socialising, had got himself a job and had gone to college. He was trying to get out of this habit,” said Mr Harrower.
Sheriff Derrick McIntyre deferred sentence until next month for reports and ordered Sangster to register as a sex offender.
