Another violent assault on Monday morning saw a man in his 20s left in a serious condition in Leith.
Police said the victim suffered a serious head injury in the 1am attack, however locals claimed the man had been stabbed.
Residents who live in the same block of flats as the victim claimed he had been beaten and stabbed in a flat in block before being taken over the road and being dumped on an old mattress next to a bin store.
He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, and he remains in a critical condition. Two men have been detained in connection with the incident, and police are appealing for any potential witnesses to come forward.A police spokesman said:
“We want to speak to anyone who was in the area of Cables Wynd in the early hours of this morning, who either saw what happened or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, to get in touch as a matter of urgency.
