Hundreds of motorists were caught up in queues after a car overturned on the A1 during rush hour traffic today (Tues).
The city-bound carriage way was closed for around half an hour near the Newcraighall junction while fire crews worked to remove the 38-year-old female occupant from her car.
Crews used hydraulic cutters to remove the woman from the silver Toyota Auris, which had come to a rest on its side.
A spokesperson for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said the casualty had been complaining of neck and back pain.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said:
“We were called out just after 9 am. A rapid response unit and an ambulance were in attendance and took the single female occupant to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. “
The road reopened as a single lane around 10.05.
