A MAN suffered a broken leg after falling 30 feet while free climbing on Saturday.

The 27-year-old was rock climbing without the aid of ropes in Holyrood Park when the accident occurred.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue, who were called to rescue the man, said:

“Our crews were called to assist an ambulance at 12.22 yesterday after a male fell 30 foot in Holyrood Park.

“He was extracted using lines and a stretcher and taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary suffering a suspected broken leg and minor facial injuries. “
