SUSAN Boyle revealed today (Fri) that she had managed to stick to her Lent ban on sweets and chocolate – even on her 50th birthday.
Standing outside her new home in Blackburn, West Lothian – on a doormat saying “The Posh House” – Susan said she was looking forward to what the next decade will bring.
Resplendent in a red suit and clutching flowers and cards from fans, she said: “I’ve had a fantastic day, I’ve had a lot of family round and a lot of media around.
“It’s been a good 40s but I’m looking forward to a fantastic 50s.”
She added that there was not much left that she wanted to achieve in the coming years.
“I’ve more or less done it all up until now but hopefully more of the same but better”, she giggled.
But despite celebrating the milestone Susan said that she has not cheated on her resolution for Lent and no sweets or chocolate had passed her lips.
She added laughing: “I’ve not had any chocolate cake but just the plain stuff.”
And she would not reveal what presents she received saying: “I got lots of things, too many to mention. I got a lot of support from my fans.”
The singer also spoke of the quilt that one of her adoring fans made her for the special occasion.
The patches contained the names of 500 fans, friends, family and people who have helped her in the last couple of years.
She said: “I’m going to put a big frame round it and put it on one of the big walls in my house.”
The singer who shot to fame on ITV1’s Britain’s Got Talent said that she had received a happy birthday from talent show judge Piers Morgan.
Simon Cowell also reportedly sent her a message for her special day, saying: “Happy 50th Birthday Susan. You are an amazing lady and I hope you have a fantastic day”
