Guinea pigs dumped in cardboard boxes

TWO guinea pigs have been found dumped in cardboard boxes.

The Scottish SPCA has appealed for information after the animals were found abandoned in separate cardboard boxes on Giles Street in Leith.

They were discovered by a member of the public on Monday.

Scottish SPCA ambulance driver Mairi Stewart, said: “Whoever dumped these guinea pigs couldn’t have known they would be found by someone who would help them.

“It was a very cruel act as they could easily have come to harm and it was also an offence so we’re asking the public for help identifying where they have come from.

“Thankfully they are in good health and we’ll soon be looking for new homes for them.

“They are both adult males and we’ve named them Sebastian and Martin.”

Anyone with information regarding the guinea pigs is asked to call the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
