AN ELDERLY man is in a life-threatening condition after being hit by a motorcyclist.
Both the man and the 125cc motorbike driver, who is also believed to be male, were rushed to hospital following the collision in Lochgelly, Fife, at around 7.30am today (Mon).
Emergency services were called to the scene on the B981 Lochgelly/Cardenen Road, near Lochgelly Cemetery, after a passer by alerted them.
The pair are being treated for “serious injuries” at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.
A Fife Police spokesman said the roadway was currently closed to allow officers to gather evidence at the scene.
He said: “There were no witnesses there at the time of the crash so we’re not sure yet if the elderly man had been crossing the street or if the motorcyclist had somehow come onto the pavement.
“Both have sustained head injuries and the elderly man in particular is in a bad way.
“His injuries are being treated as life-threatening.
“We have not been able to communicate with either, so the circumstances surrounding the collision are still unexplained.”
