Police hunt man who approached boy on his way to school

POLICE are trying to track down a man driving a BMW who offered a boy a lift as he walked to school.

The boy, who is in primary five, reported the incident to staff at St Margaret’s Primary School in Dunfermline after refusing to get into the car.

The incident happened at around 8.30am last Thursday, on Wedderburn Crescent, near Tweeddale Drive.

Officers have been carrying out door to door enquiries in a bid to catch the stranger.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Wilson, who is coordinating the enquiry, said: “The vehicle has been described as a light blue BMW, driven by a single male occupant.

“He was not known to the child and it is unknown as to whether this was an innocent incident or something of a more sinister nature.

“Community officers have spent much of the last few days in the area carrying out door to door enquiry and I can reassure the public that we are doing all we can in our investigation into this incident.

“I would appeal to any person who has knowledge of this incident to contact Fife Police on 0845 600 5702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where all calls are treated anonymously and you may receive a community reward.”
