Police investigation underway after claims a school girl swapped sex for a cigarette

POLICE are investigating following claims that a 13-year-old girl swapped sex with three older school boys for a single cigarette.

Detectives are studying video images after the encounter was allegedly filmed.

All four of the youngsters are pupils at Craigie High School in Dundee and it was reported that the school is “in a state of shock”.

The girl’s mother said: “There is video footage which is being looked at by the CID.

“We don’t want to say anything else at the moment.

“We are trying to get on with our lives.”

A source close to the case said: “The claims are very disturbing and the school is in a state of shock.

“The allegations are that the boys, who are all older, took the girl to a flat near the school.

“She is meant to have been offered a single cigarette in exchange for extreme sexual activity.

“The school became aware when it started to get talked about in the playground.

“The girl is distraught.”

The girl’s name soon became a top-10 ‘trending topic’ in the Tayside area on social networking site Twitter, and insulting references to the incident were posted on Facebook.

Pupils at Craigie High have now been warned not to discuss the investigation online.

Dundee councillor George Regan said: “It appears her friends have put it on Facebook and everyone at the school has seen it.

“It’s disturbing.”

Police confirmed the girl and three boys are in the process of being interviewed.

A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: “We are making inquiries into an incident involving a number of young people at an address in Dundee on January 12.

“Inquiries are at an early stage and officers are in the process of interviewing those believed to have been involved.

“It would be wrong to comment any further.”

Head teacher Colin Biernat was unavailable to comment and a spokesman for Dundee City Council refused to say whether the three boys allegedly involved have been suspended.

He said: “It would not be appropriate for the council to comment while a police inquiry is ongoing.”
