Biffy Clyro nominated for Brit Award

SCOTS rockers Biffy Clyro have been nominated for Best British Group at this year’s Brit Awards.

The Ayrshire Trio will be up against Take That, Gorillaz, Mumford & Sons and The XX, at the event which will be held on 15 February at the O2 Arena in London.

Biffy Clyro – comprising of Simon Neil and twins Ben and James Johnston – recently headlined Edinburgh’s Hogmanay party, shortly after completing a tour of the UK and Australia.

Last year they were nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, but were beaten to the post by The XX.

The band is now taking some well-earned time off before starting work on their new album.

Bassist James said: “We’re honoured and surprised to be nominated for best British group.

“We’re in incredible company with the other nominees, so whatever happens we’re over the moon just to be included.”

The ceremony will be broadcast live on ITV1 and is to be hosted by Gavin and Stacey star James Corden.
