A WOMAN was robbed just minutes away from the HQ of Scotland’s second largest police force.
The 26-year-old was threatened by a shaven headed attacker who said he had a weapon, forcing her to hand over her purse in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh at 5pm.
The incident happened on Fettes Row, less than a mile from Lothian and Borders Police headquarters on Fettes Avenue.
He was described as white, in his early 40s, around 6ft 2ins tall, heavy build and wearing a ski-style jacket, with a red and orange triangle design.
He was also carrying a blue plastic bad and spoke with what is thought to be an Eastern European accent.
Despite claiming he had a weapon the suspect did not show one as he took the woman’s purse containing money and bank cards.
A police spokesman said: “Thankfully the victim was not injured, however she was shaken as a result of what happened, and we are appealing for any information that can assist in tracing the suspect.
“Anyone who was in the area of Fettes Row or Royal Crescent around 5pm yesterday, who saw the suspect there, should contact police immediately. Similarly, anyone who recognises his description should also get in touch.”
