Fire services tame Boxing Day flames

FIREFIGHTERS from Fife Fire and Rescue Service were called to a blaze in a ground floor block of flats on Boxing Day.

Two fire engines were sent to tackle the fire on Headwell Avenue, Dunfermline after the call for emergency services was made shortly before 1.30pm.

The fire crews used two hose reel jets and four sets of breathing apparatus in their successful fight against the fire which was fully extinguished by 4pm.

Initial concerns about casualties were dispelled as all residents were accounted for.

A spokesperson for the Fife fire service said: “They have put out the fire and have been checking for any signs of smoke.  There were no casualties as all persons were accounted for.”
