A 20-YEAR-OLD woman had to be rescued by firemen after her car left the road and collided with a tree.
The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Saturday, on the B792 road between Stoneyburn and Blackburn in West Lothian.
The woman was trapped in the vehicle while a crew from the Lothian and Borders service used heavy hydraulic cutting equipment to free her.
A tirfer winch was also used to stabilise the car, to allow paramedics to treat her at the scene.
An ambulance team took the woman – who was believed to have neck and hip injuries – to St John’s Hospital in Livingston.
A spokeswoman for Scottish Ambulance said: “We attended a road traffic collision at 8.31pm on Saturday, involving one car.
“A 20-year-old female was trapped in her vehicle which had come off the road and hit a tree on the B792.
“We used a heavy hydraulic cutting device to free the woman and a tirfer winch to stabilise the car and allow ambulance staff access to the casualty.
“She was taken to St John’s Hospital and was complaining of a sore neck and hip.”
