They say some 10 million households now subscribe to the channel – a target first set by the broadcaster in 2004.
Sky claims to reach an audience of 25 million people, with a third signing up for HD and a quarter using its broadband and phone services.
Chris Stylianou, who runs Sky’s contact centres throughout the UK from their West Lothian centre in Livingston, said: “To be the choice of 10 million households across the UK and Ireland is a proud moment for the whole team at Sky.
“But we’re not going to rest on our laurels, we’re going to give our customers even better customer service, more great content, a fantastic viewing experience and help them save real money with great value bundles.”
Sky employs some 6500 staff across its contact centres in Livingston, Dunfermline and Uddingston, some of who celebrated the landmark figure with a ceremonial cake cutting.
Next year they broadcaster is planning to launch a new channel, Sky Atlantic HD.
