Organisers of the annual charity football match in Edinburgh between fans of Hibs FC and Hearts FC have announced the date of the next clash – Sunday March 28, 2011 at Tynecastle Stadium with a 2pm kick-off.
The Edinburgh Charity Match has been running since 2006 and so far raised more than £40,000 for local charities including the Sick Kids, CCLASP, Simpson’s and Maggie’s.
This time those taking part hope to break the £50,000 mark with 80% of the money going to The Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre (Lothian) MSTC, and 10% each to Forth One’s Cash For Kids and Asthma UK (Scotland)
As well as raising thousands of pounds for worthy charities in the local area, it also gives normal fans the opportunity to play at the home of their hero’s against the local rivals and become a footballer for the day.
A spokesman said: “We are looking for fans of both clubs, whatever their level to register their interest on the website, there you will get all the information you need and also see photos and video clips of the previous matches and also how the money has been spent over the years.”
