A MAN had to be airlifted to hospital after colliding with a car transporter lorry today.
The accident happened at around 11:37 on the A68 southbound past Jedburgh.
The man was driving a 4×4 and had to be cut free by firefighters before being airlifted to hospital.
The driver of the lorry was unharmed.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said: “There was one casualty; the driver of the 4×4 was severely trapped
“Three sets of hydraulic cutting equipment were used to release the causality and he was transported in air ambulance to hospital in a serious condition.
“The driver of the car transporter was not injured.”
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We attended an incident with a 4×4 and a lorry.
“A gentleman was trapped and an air ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital.”
